Savings & Value...

Cost-Effective Construction

• PolySteel forms are easy to install, saving valuable construction time.

"This has been my first experience (with PolySteel) as a construction worker....You said these went up easy, but I never figured we would put them up as fast as we did. The neighbors went away for the weekend on a Friday evening, and came home Sunday and there was a basement!"
          --Linda Mines, Hot Springs, SD

Ongoing Savings
On average, the monthly energy costs of a PolySteel home are 80% lower per square foot than that of a typical wood-frame home.

Walls made of PolySteel perform like a wood frame wall constructed for up to R-50 insulation.

PolySteel's high insulation value may qualify you for additional energy credits through the TVA egergyright program.

The reduced fire risk in PolySteel homes can also reduce insurance costs.

Almost all PolySteel homeowners will save approximately $50 to $150 per month on the average for a 2000 to 4000 sq. ft. house respectively on heating and cooling costs alone. If this savings were applied to the mortgage payment monthly, the homeowner would pay off his or her mortgage 6 to 9 years earlier -- saving $46,000 to $124,000 over the life of the mortgage!

"For a house half the size of our PolySteel house our neighbors are paying over double in natural gas bills."

Increased Home Value

• A recent study conducted for the EPA Energy Star Homes Program concludes that home value increases by about $20 for every $1 reduction in annual utility bills. The implication of these findings for homebuyers is that they can profit by investing in energy efficient homes even if they are uncertain about how long they might stay in the home. They will enjoy positive cash flow for as long as they live in their home and can also expect to recover their investment in energy efficiency when they sell their home.

• PolySteel homes typically appraise higher than wood-framed homes.  (See example below.)

Example of Higher Appraisal Value

Being more comfortable, more energy efficient, and more structurally secure, PolySteel homes naturally have a higher appraisal value than their traditional counterparts. But here's another reason for the higher appraisal that's backed up by math!

a.  A 2,500 sq. ft. home (50' x 50') appraises for $75/sq. ft, or $187,500.

b.  A PolySteel home adds 6 inches to the width of each wall, thus, extending the footprint of the
home to 51' x 51', or 2,601 sq. ft. total.

c.  The total appraised value of a 2,601 sq. ft. home @ $75/sq. ft. is $195,075 -- an increase
      of $7,575, or 4%.

d.  The estimated increased cost of covering this 10 additional square feet with the roof ($300),
extra brick ($200), and a little larger footing ($100) is a total of $600.  This amount is more
than offset by the increase in appraised value!
